Dark blanket

This is in reply to a post by Neel titled "The Dark One"
his poem is the inspiration behind mine..i know it doesn't hold a candle to his work..but something told me i must put it here..

silent night
soothing night
away from the harsh lights
of truth and reality..
so hard to accept

in the blanket of darkness
i lie warm and soft
away from the freezing cold..
of the frozen white sun

d light ignites me
like a torch..i burn out

knowledge will kill me
ignorance is my bliss
in ignorance i shall win
lying bleeding on the ground

'coz in the dark i won't see
the blood gushing out
from the wounds i no longer feel..

just a new pain

lost amidst so many before..

silent night
soothing night
take me in your blanket
and smother me tonight
rise no more
may i, to burn under the cold sun
sleep may i forever
in the warmth of your soft cradle..

may i, to burn under the cold sun
sleep may i forever
in the warmth of your soft cradle..

kept near the window in the darkness of the night.

so, in the morning the first ray of the bright yellow sun,

will make u rise n soothe u in its glory...

and then u ll realise that it was just a dream n not a silent smothery night...

aaah
but i like the night so much more than light
i am a nishachar
i feel light is over rated and night an ill treated misunderstood sister of day

well..till the time a night is a night..everyone likes it...but no one wants the night to b a nightmare...a light in the night means...is raat ki subah hai... :)

umangexuberance said...

hmmm..but raat ki subah se jab darr lagne lage to kya?
kuch raton ki subah na ho to acha h :)

maverick said...

subah to honi hi hai..chaho naa chaho..wat matters is how soon can u face the day..the sooner the better..n if with the smile..then even more better...

hmmm..
different people different perspectives
but honestly..i prefer the cool mysterious night to the starkness of the day
i cud give my incessant romanticism as an excuse or just blame myself for trying to run away
whatever it might be..night allures me and seems so much more my own than the alien day

oh..i never said no to this side of the nite..even i love this side of the nite...had endless nite outs during my engg days...but then my reference was to the night in the poem...that was the scary smothery night...not the romantic.fun filled one :)

aaah no, it was the soothing sweet night away from the reality of the day
an escape into its embrace is what i talked about

these lines confused me i guess then....

hmmm..well actually it again talks about escape
escape from the wounds i don't want to feel anymore
i don't want to see these wounds weakening me
i don't want to wake up to a new nightmare is what these lines meant

hmm...good :)..probably..im too tired to interpret it correctly...lol

haha..hota h
and vaise bhi there are so many different interpretations that can be drawn from any piece of writing
as i always say..different people different perceptions different interpretations :)

both the poems are in their own leagues...
but yours could have been a reply from the one for whom neel was an angel...just for the poem's sake...superficially...hehe
btw, i feel nights are more challenging than the light...they make us stronger, and really bring out the best in us...that's wot this creature of the night feels...hehe
and why do you need to forget your wounds...if you let them remain open you can never forget them...they will be omnipresent, throbbing for attention...
best is to let them heal...
if you just enjoy pain, there will be more in life..it's not that it's gonna end tomorrow, is it???

cheers!!!

@sameera
u really are the sweetest :)
*hugs*
i wrote this poem before diwali and it was purely in reply to neel's poem
i am much better now
it was a bad phase i was going through..but now i am at peace :)

and smother me tonight

well this line says that there are some harsh realities i don't want to face again and so i want to be smothered in the night so i don't have to face the reality of day again..yes it is sad in some ways..
i hope i can come up with something more happy and hopeful next :)
take care

@humble devil
aaah..but how cud i reply as someone..about whose thoughts and feelings i have no clue about

it was just that his poem got me thinking and this poem was the result
completely agree with you about night
that is why i call it "soothing night"

it gives me rest from the tiring day and lets me forget the reality that awaits me at the other end of dawn

and about wounds..well here i talk of wounds as the harsh lessons that i want to unlearn so that i can dream again :)
cheers to you to!!

Great write as usual, am your fan :D but the pic isn't doing justice to the contents. My depiction of the picture would be a new start, a new beginning whereas the poem talks about the end, totally opposite.
One more thing, there is a contradiction in the first stanza, the night is soothing which is usually considered acceptable or friendly. If you are making it hard to accept, you should justify it somewhere.
But again,as I always say, different people different perceptions :-)

@gonecase
u cheater thats my line Grrrrhhh
apart from that..thanks a lot
and about the picture..my interpretation of it is being protected by the night...safe in darkness which i guess goes with what i am saying here
and the line "so hard to accept" is in continuation with the one before it "of truth and reality.." it is this truth and reality which is so hard to accept and that is why to hide from it i run to the soothing night :)
